2002 Q2—Ashburn, Virginia Photos

The recovery equipment was moved from a secure staging location
to
the exercise site on April 12, 2002. The trailers are positioned
following
a site plan that assures that all of the equipment can be
interconnected
safely and efficiently.

trailer and a generator trailer.
The recovery trailers have self-contained
or dedicated
power generators so they do not have to rely upon
commercial power during a recovery.

cables on April 13.
The technology trailers are
interconnected with fiber or T3 cables, as they
would be in a permanent central office.

are connected following a cabling plan that is unique to each
recovery
location. The plan is generated automatically by software
developed by NDR.

end of the cabling
process at the Ashburn site.

After all of the communications and power cables have been
run at
the site, team members "dress" the cables. The
cables are tied
together in bundles for their protection and to make
the site safe for the
team.

The trailers travel to and from a recovery location in small, escorted
groups. This is one of the first trailer groups to leave the Ashburn
site
on April 17.
